He served as a backup quarterback to Brett Favre and holder on placekicks during his time with the Green Bay Packers. As a member of the Miami Dolphins, Pederson also acted as a backup to Dan Marino. He then started playing as a quarterback for the Eagles and Cleveland Browns. Pederson was re-signed to a one-year contract with the Packers on March 13, 2001, as a replacement to backup Matt Hasselbeck who was traded to the Seattle Seahawks at the time. He was again re-signed to a one-year contract worth $650,000 with the Packers on April 2, 2002, during which he served as the backup quarterback and primary holder in all 16 games.He won Super Bowl LII in a match against the Patriots in his 2nd season as the head coach. The victory also marked the first Super Bowl title accomplished in franchise history.Pederson is the 4th person next to Mike Ditka, Tom Flores, and Tony Dungy, to win a Super Bowl both as a player and as a head coach.On February 18, 1999, he signed a three-year contract worth $4.5 million with the Philadelphia Eagles and became the team’s starting quarterback under head coach Andy Reid, who turned out to be Pederson’s head coach during his time with the Green Bay Packers from 1997 to 1998.
